What can institutional investors expect & proactively create in 2020 & beyond?

January 16th
Sofitel BKC Mumbai

Infrastructure has been one of the cornerstones of India’s development, with exponential growth over the past decade.

The country’s mammoth infrastructure needs are estimated to reach $4 trillion by 2040. The Indian government has increased its infrastructure spending significantly in the last four years to over $60bn annually, to reach targets for infrastructure development. However, to bridge the gap, the country has developed a comprehensive institutional framework for private participation in infrastructure.

Institutional investors have increasingly participated in the financing, building and operating of infrastructure through PPPs. Investor appetite for infrastructure has grown steadily since the global financial crisis. Long-term patient capital owners are increasingly adding infrastructure to their asset allocation.

With the latest introduction of the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) is the stage set to continue this exciting journey into the new decade? What can Institutional investors expect from the Infrastructure market? What opportunities would the institutional investors like to create and which ones would they like to grab? Does the way forward look full of possibilities or is cautious investments the way to go ahead?

“GRI Club, after establishing a very successful industry networking forum for Indian real estate over the past couple of years, is replicating the same for Indian Infrastructure industry. I have particularly liked the approach of GRI events so far of bringing together a select set of few participants spanning investors - both domestic and international, lenders and developers on a frequent basis to network and talk through their recent high level experiences / industry updates.”
