ABOUT THE EVENT

The Global Risks Report 2024, published by the World Economic Forum, in partnership with Marsh McLennan and Zurich Insurance Group, points out the main threats for development, several industry sectors and mainly to the future of mankind. Without wishing to be alarmist, but rather prudent, the report is underpinned by two decades of original data and insights on real global risks perception.

The major concerns expressed in this document are the climate emergency, the geopolitical tensions and the inappropriate use of technology. It is undeniable that these three threats can jeopardise the Infrastructure sector, both the projects already achieved and those to be developed, causing serious disruptions. But as the text points out, the future is not fixed, thus one must find the right strategies and put them into practice to build resilience, preempting upheavals and downturns.

Global Risks Report - A multistakeholder perspective of the factors threatening the Infrastructure sector

  • Technological misuse: a gap between high and low income countries and their Infrastructure projects;
  • Geopolitical conflicts impairing growth and development.
