The residential and office real estate sectors will be the focus of the upcoming major GRI Club Real Estate meeting in Mexico. GRI Residential & Offices Mexico 2019 is scheduled for November in the capital, Mexico City. The event will discuss crosscutting themes – such as strategies for investments in mixed-use models –, and issues particular to each of the segments.

“Both markets are increasingly integrated in the country. The decentralization that the Mexican government seeks to make in civil service is one of the movements that point in this direction. Today, significant parts of the offices in the country’s major metropolises are occupied by the government, which intends to move these people to other cities. This is expected to impact both the residential and office segments,” says Leonardo Di Mauro, GRI Club's head of Real Estate for Latin America.

Names of the likes Enrique Lavin (PGIM Real Estate), Federico Martin del Campo (Walton Street Capital), Gonzalo Robina (Fibra Uno),Jaime Fasja (Thor Urbana), Ricardo Zuñiga (Vertex Real Estate) and Vicente Naves (Artha Capital) have already been confirmed to discuss the reality and future of both areas at the conference.

Important keynote

Adrián Otero, CEO of Scotiabank Mexico, a newcomer to the company after serving at institutions such as BBVA, UBS, and BBV, will be the keynote speaker during the opening of GRI Residential & Offices Mexico 2019. Among other topics, the executive will discuss the economic scenario at the end of the first year of president Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration, the banks’ role in the local real estate market, and the medium and long-term prospects of the real estate industry.

Simultaneous discussion rooms are also scheduled to take place throughout the day. On one hand, participants will be able to discuss key issues in the residential segment, highlighting issues such as multifamily and secondary market growth strategies. On the other, the players will be able to discuss issues related to the office segment, including new formats such as coworking and new consumer demands. In an informal atmosphere of intense networking, the meeting will also be conducive to interaction and dialogue about opportunities for partnerships.
