“More lenders ask for credentials around ESG”, says Vincent Bryant (Deepki)

Co-Founder & CEO of Deepki, Vincent Bryant, explains importance of carbon efficiency in real estate assets

Deepki offers end-to-end ESG and data-intelligence solutions for real estate assets, currently helping 425 customers with their 1.7 million assets. Vincent Bryant, Co-Founder & CEO, spoke to Gustavo Favaron, CEO & Managing Partner of GRI Club, at Europe GRI 2023 to present the role of Deepki’s solutions in today’s real estate market.

The year 2020 was a turning point in real estate, Vincent reported, and the moment the industry realised that climate change is a central point. Carbon efficiency of assets is absolutely key in order to leverage four main things.

The first, and perhaps more obvious, is to comply with local legislation; the second is to improve asset attractiveness, both for tenants and customers; the third to improve asset value, or at least to protect asset valuation; and the fourth is for access to capital - lenders are asking for increasingly more demanding credentials around ESG.

During the interview, Vincent also made interesting comparatives between different regions regarding ESG, stating that despite the largest real estate market being that of the US, Europe is ahead of the market in terms of maturity with ESG.

More interviews with other leading real estate executives at Europe GRI 2023 are available now on the GRI Hub.
