Infrastructure executives and investors are predominantly optimistic about the direction the industry will take in Latin America in the next 12 to 36 months, according to the GRI Club Infra Barometer survey carried out among 141 players working or interested in working in the region. More than 71% of them expressed this view and, to the majority (76.40%), the country offering the most opportunities in this region of the planet is Brazil.

The predilection for Brazil has risen sharply compared to previous surveys. A year ago, the group of those making this assessment was smaller, 55.88%, while two years ago it was 44.9%. On the other hand, the attractiveness of Mexico and Argentina has plummeted. Currently, 23.60% of the respondents see Mexico with good eyes, down 19 percentage points compared to 2018, and only 8.60% show high interest in the Argentine market, compared to 30.88% 12 months ago.

Colombia (54.30%) and Peru (42.90%) are also very well ranked. Chile, meanwhile, saw its preference share grow twofold, to 32.10%, in 2019.
