Overview

Large scale mixed use developments have always been flavour of the month for institutional and opportunistic investors alike. However, since the re-imagining of truly unique places including Kings Cross, Covent Garden, Operación Chamartín', Piazza Cordusio, Grand Paris and Battersea Power Station, investors and developers are starting to ask themselves: what does it take to create truly exceptional destinations that attract those to live, work and play?  Does long term investment capital follow?

GRI Club Members and the wider hospitality industry are invited to a very special club meeting to discuss what adds value to mixed use and hospitality schemes in the UK and across Europe.

Hosted by Yoo Capital, at the heart of its latest Kensington Olympia Regeneration Project, members will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this new masterplan with an overview from Yoo Capital, its investment advisors, and its collaborative architects. Followed by a brief site visit and networking lunch, a private roundtable discussion will focus on the investment criteria for placemaking in hospitality and mixed-use schemes.

Discussions will focus on:

  • The ‘Placemaking’ Effect – Real value add or fantasy?
  • Established Brands vs Fresh Brands - Competing or complementary?
  • Mixed Use Estates – What are the investment implications?
  • Room for opportunistic investors?
  • Accessing finance for development
  • European Opportunities for Placemaking - Where is the growth projected?
  • Hospitality, Leisure & Serviced Assets - Are their fates forever intertwined?
  • Luxury - Will it define the latest mixed use destinations while mid-market and affordable retailers face restructuring?
  • What Adds Value to Hospitality & Mixed Use Developments ? Service, F&B, Offices, Resi, Retail, Leisure or something entirely new?
