British GRI 2017London, April 25th - 26th

The British GRI held over 18 discussions reflecting on market trends, value add strategies and asset performances.

Highlights included breakout discussions on alternative assets classes, including student housing and build to rent in the mid markets, and frank outlooks for offices, retail and the state of London. Finance and investment strategies were debated from the market lifecycle, alternative sources of debt finance and opportunistic and defensive strategies. Whilst some investors were ready to take a seat, most were happy to keep dancing in the current cycle.

Innovation and industry disruption were key themes throughout the meeting. Ensuring more bite to sessions this year, our industry ‘provocateurs’ treated attendees to pre-discussion teasers on disruptors and trends affecting property. Roger Wade, (CEO, BoxPark) challenged us to reimagine retail and the new order for shopping centres, retail parks and mixed use. Thomas Schneider, (CIO, Brickvest) propelled us into the future of debt finance with his views on crowdfunding and Tony Danaher (UKTI) argued what the so called Northern Powerhouse could bring to the table in terms of UK GDP, attracting foreign and institutional investment.

Not forgetting the bigger picture, the opening keynote by Philippe Dauba-Pantanacce (Senior Economist & Global Geopolitical Analyst, Standard Chartered) shared his thoughts on what geopolitical trends were set to shake the world’s economy. Bringing it back home, James Murray (Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, Greater London Authority) on the residential outlook for London. Ideas shared included fostering institutional investment into London PRS, navigating through planning policy and ensuring the right mix of affordable housing for the Capital.

A GRI is a get together of senior international and local real estate investors, developers and lenders. The discussion format enables you to interact with everyone in the room. Quickly find the right partners for your business, build high value relationships, and continue the conversation afterwards.

GRI has no speakers, no presentations. Instead, you have a selection of closed-door discussions where everyone can participate. Much like a conversation in your own living room, the dynamic environment allows you to engage with your peers in an informal and collegial setting.

Delegate slots are available for anyone senior currently active in real estate. Immerse yourself in a dynamic environment of informal group discussions where everybody participates. Discuss the latest opportunities, challenges and trends with top level decision makers.

Available exclusively to senior-level investors, developers and lenders that confirm their participation in advance, chairing a discussion at British GRI is a way of attending while enjoying greater visibility, reduced rates and other benefits.
