Community builder or manipulative destroyer?

Changing demographics, the rise of social media and “fake news” - How are capital markets preparing for this inevitable relationship shift between society, politics and capitalism? Can real estate investors prepare for such uncertainties to come? Better yet, can they strategise and profit from such social media and global macro disruptors or is it all just doom and gloom?

Available only to our Retreat GRI Club Members, and by invitation only to Real Estate CEOs of substantial property owners, this Retreat Member meeting will address pressing issues concerning social media and its influences on the future of politics and the economic markets relating to real estate investment and development strategies. The discussion will be driven by thought leader Jamie Bartlett. Jamie Bartlett, journalist, political and social expert and author of The People vs Tech, The Dark Net, The Secrets of Silicon Valley and many more.

Topics that will be touched upon:

  • Radical Social, Political and Technological Changes - Should real estate investors care?

  • A Globalised World - How is social media disconnected from current politics, why is this bad for capital markets?

  • The Future is Social - How will social media shift the tides of current democratic state systems and influence economic markets across the globe?

  • Impacts of evolving demographics

  • Rising Populism - How will political parties use social media to connect to their voters?

  • How much of a threat is “fake news” to business really; can new tech neutralise the issues?

  • The 10 Year Plan for Real Estate - Are there any case studies and trends we can learn from to prepare the markets for the next cycle?
