GRI Hospitality eSummit 2020
8th - 10th December
Over the last decade, the global hotel industry demonstrated resilience and continuous growth, increasing its attractiveness among investors. Nevertheless, 2020’s Coronavirus pandemic destabilized the hospitality value chain, leaving operators and developers gasping for liquidity in only a couple of months. COVID-19 has accelerated consumer and technological trends, pushing industry players to innovate and find creative solutions to their assets to overcome the quarantines. But as the second wave reactivates lockdowns and restrictions around the world, a question remains: when will hotels be able to reopen to full capacity?

Join the global GRI Club to discuss such challenges and opportunities through candid peer-to-peer discussions. Navigate the current challenges presented by the Coronavirus recovery and changing real estate demands, especially cash flow, maintaining liquidity and landlord/tenant partnerships. Engage with C-level hospitality real estate leaders on what the post-Coronavirus world of hospitality might look like and what opportunities this might open up for buy/sell and repositioning.

Participation in this event is by invitation only. If you would like to join our members please submit your interest here.

Participation is restricted to Club Members and eMembers.

  • Impact on Pricing: Large amount of equity raised for hotels but less financing, will there be money available but more expansive?
  • Operator / Owner Relationship: Crisis creates the opportunity for brands to recuperate independent hotels, is there appetite to provide more owner friendly contracts?
  • Transaction type: Development vs rebranding/conversion of existing assets?
  • Asset type: City hotels vs Resorts vs MICE

Trust Hospitality is a privately held company based in Coral Gables, Florida. It has been in business for over 30 years (originally “Tecton Hospitality”) and had its origin as a hotel work-out company for governmental agencies (e.g., FDIC, FSLIC) in the early 1980s. In the mid-1980s it became focused full time on hotel management and for approximately the next 15 years it managed full and limited service branded hotels, including brands from Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Starwood, Choice, and Best Western. In the early 2000s, Trust Hospitality shifted its management focus to independent lifestyle (aka boutique) hotels. This shift resulted primarily for three reasons: (1) the emergence of the internet and e-commerce; (2) its view that the management of branded hotels, especially in the select and limited service sectors, was becoming a commodity business; and (3) its proximity to over 150 unbranded hotels in the greater Miami area.

Mc Lean | VA | USA
Back in 1993, when Founder, Chairman, and CEO Bob Faith set out to build Greystar, he saw a highly fragmented multifamily industry that was more focused on assets than people. He envisioned the need for an industry leader, a blue-chip company that operated with the highest integrity and character in delivering world-class services to residents, property owners and investors in multifamily real estate. He said, “Why not us? Let’s go be that company.” With a winning strategy and a focus on people, Greystar set out to meet that need -- guided by the mission of enriching the lives of those we touch by doing things the right way. Greystar has learned what’s important to people when it comes to a place to call home and the services that enhance the living experience. And that’s why we put our heart and soul into providing beautiful living environments.
