Rainer joined Four Seasons in 2001 for the Boston food and beverage division and spent time in Los Angeles before taking on the first post of Managing Director with the opening of the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui; moved to Bangkok to run all Four Seasons properties in the country as Regional Vice President in 2008, then moved to Shanghai to open what was then the city's second Four Seasons in Pudong, in 2011, directing several other properties in China and Southeast Asia. Rainer was promoted to his current position, residing in Singapore in 2016.
