Visão geral

Nos dias 17 e 18 de maio, líderes do setor de infraestrutura e autoridades de governos latinos se reuniram no 3º Infra Latin America GRI em Nova York. O encontro teve como objetivo debater soluções para alavancar investimentos na América Latina, em especial temas ligados a financiamento, mercado de capitais, riscos, compliance, estruturação de PPPs, além de discussões setoriais focadas em saneamento, energia, aeroportos e rodovias.

Na abertura do encontro, Chris Heathcote, CEO do Global Infrastructure Hub, apresentou um panorama regional de desenvolvimento e apontou alguns caminhos para superar o gap de investimento na América Latina. Já o segundo dia começou com uma análise sobre a  infraestrutura urbana e o futuro das cidades, com Andre Clark (CEO da Siemens no Brasil), Robert Muggah (fundador do Instituto Igarapé) e Eugene Zapata-Garesché (diretor regional - LAC da 100 Resilient Cities) como painelistas.

O evento mais uma vez se consolidou como uma plataforma de relacionamento na qual investidores e operadores internacionais tiveram a oportunidade de dialogar com players latino-americanos sobre as oportunidades nos países da região.

O encontro somou mais de 200 participantes provenientes de 16 países, entre eles Ana Maria Vidaurre (CDPQ), César Ramírez (Credicorp Capital), Damian Secen (Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets), Félix Corral Fernandéz (Sacyr), Jacques Follain (ADP International), Jean Pierre Serani Toro (Grupo Bancolombia), Mark Murski (Brookfield), Mario Gabriel Budebo (MIP - EXI CKD), Mauricio Ossa (Odinsa), Teresa Vernaglia (BRK Ambiental), Willem Van Twembeke (Orazul Energy) e Wilson Ferreira Jr (Eletrobras).

Entre os momentos especiais do encontro, tiveram destaque a reunião do conselho do GRI Club Infrastructure para América Latina, durante a qual os seus integrantes trocaram experiências bem-sucedidas frente a desafios comuns a toda região, e o jantar no rooftop do hotel Parker New York, oportunidade única de networking com esplêndida vista sobre o Central Park.

Chris Heathcote

Biography:

Chris is one of the few Infrastructure professionals to have worked as Principal, Advisor and Debt Provider to the infrastructure sector. Starting in the mid 1990's Chris was a founder partner in one of the early Infrastructure equity funds, Hyder Infrastructure Investors. Amongst many deals financed were the Melbourne City Link and the Asian Infrastructure Fund, as well as a number of UK PFI deals.

As an advisor in the late 1990's Chris structured the N3 toll road project in South Africa, working to create financial instruments to promote local empowerment and involvement in the project equity. During this period he also worked on urban regeneration projects in the UK and the Cross Israel Highway.

After a period working in the Capital Markets with Ambac Chris moved to Partnerships UK, a PPP project set up by the UK Treasury working to advise the Public Sector in procuring Infrastructure programmes. He worked on the Wembley National Stadium and London Underground projects helping the Public Sector to get best value from their Private Sector counterparts. In 2001 he worked with the Brazilian Government advising on the process of preparing and executing a PPP programme.

Whilst at Partnerships UK he also spent some time working in the Treasury where he was one of the authors of the Government White Paper "Meeting the Investment Challenge".

Chris returned to the Private Sector in 2006 and has worked for WestLB AG, Lloyds Banking Group and most recently Macquarie. He has provided finance to projects in the U.S., Europe, Turkey, China, Abidjan and Australia.

Appointed CEO and President of the Strategic Business Unit ANDES (Argentina, Chile and Colombia) on June 23, 2016, he was until recently the COO for Strategic Business Unit of AES Andes since January 2012. 
Giorgio has been working for AES since 1997 for companies in Argentina, Venezuela, Panama and Chile. In 1997, he became the Commercial Director of Eden, Edes and Edelap, distribution companies in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Between 2001 and 2003, he served as General Director of Termoandes and Interandes, then continued as General Manager of AES Argentina Generation. In 2006, he became General Manager of Electricidad de Caracas, Venezuela's largest power and then CEO and Country Manager of AES in Panama.

Biography:

Chris is one of the few Infrastructure professionals to have worked as Principal, Advisor and Debt Provider to the infrastructure sector. Starting in the mid 1990's Chris was a founder partner in one of the early Infrastructure equity funds, Hyder Infrastructure Investors. Amongst many deals financed were the Melbourne City Link and the Asian Infrastructure Fund, as well as a number of UK PFI deals.

As an advisor in the late 1990's Chris structured the N3 toll road project in South Africa, working to create financial instruments to promote local empowerment and involvement in the project equity. During this period he also worked on urban regeneration projects in the UK and the Cross Israel Highway.

After a period working in the Capital Markets with Ambac Chris moved to Partnerships UK, a PPP project set up by the UK Treasury working to advise the Public Sector in procuring Infrastructure programmes. He worked on the Wembley National Stadium and London Underground projects helping the Public Sector to get best value from their Private Sector counterparts. In 2001 he worked with the Brazilian Government advising on the process of preparing and executing a PPP programme.

Whilst at Partnerships UK he also spent some time working in the Treasury where he was one of the authors of the Government White Paper "Meeting the Investment Challenge".

Chris returned to the Private Sector in 2006 and has worked for WestLB AG, Lloyds Banking Group and most recently Macquarie. He has provided finance to projects in the U.S., Europe, Turkey, China, Abidjan and Australia.

Dylan Foo is Head of the Americas and oversees sourcing, executing and managing infrastructure investments in the region. Cleyton Barros joined the Global Infrastructure Hub in 2016 as a Principal Policy Advisor. Prior to joining the GI Hub, Cleyton has served at the Ministry of Finance in Brazil where he had worked for the previous five years. His role as General Coordinator of Logistics provided Cleyton with a wealth of knowledge and experience in various infrastructure sectors including rail, ports, roads and airports. During his time with the Ministry of Finance, he monitored both the implementation of regulation and management models as well as formulating the public policy for infrastructure projects and privatization programs. He also served as an advisor in the Ministry of Transport in Brazil on various transportation logistics programs.
