María is currently directing the GRI Club for the Spanish market. Prior to this, she directed the GRI meetings in Italy (2015) and Central and Eastern Europe, and collaborated in the British and Indian Real Estate markets. She has developed an extensive network in the sector.
She holds a BA in History, a MSc in Physical Anthropology, doing her Master Thesis at the University of Cambridge, and has an extensive background in International Archaeology projects in Spain, Jordan, UK, Italy and France. In addition to these countries, she has lived in the US, Brazil and Chile, being completely fluent in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and English.
She currently takes part in several Human Rights projects related to Crimes against humanity and Conflict resolution.
Brian is the Managing Partner of ASG Iberia Advisors which is based in Madrid and has quickly grown into one of the largest PERE advisory platforms in Spain with 12 experienced professionals and more than a dozen investments throughout Spain.
Brian worked for more than 14 years at Cerberus Capital Management. Most recently, Brian was based in Madrid as the Managing Director of Cerberus Iberia Advisors. In 2000 Brian opened and ran their Mexico City investment advisory office where he focused on acquisition and asset management of large NPL portfolios. In 2007 he moved to the Netherlands where his Cerberus responsibilities included both asset management and the acquisition of commercial and residential loans and real estate. He worked on projects in Germany, the U.K. and Spain.
Before working at Cerberus, Brian was the country head at Citibank Mexico’s Technical Services Group which managed all real estate valuation, engineering and environmental studies for Citibank Mexico’s new loan origination, NPL and workouts departments. Brian also ran Citibank Mexico’s bad bank REO sales department.
In 2006 Brian was part of the original team working for the Mexican Central Bank’s VVA and then Fobaproa bad bank divisions. He was responsible for selling the REO assets from the intervened banks. He also has worked for Cushman & Wakefield and Grupo Situr in Mexico City. Grupo Situr was the largest publicly listed owner and developer of hotels, master planned resorts, marina’s and golf courses in Mexico.
